The Boy Who Excelled

           Harry in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban by J. K. Rowling, is a very strong and intelligent boy. Throughout the book there are many moments with teachers and in Hogwarts where he shows much strength mentally and physically. He also is not a quitter and if there is something he wants to accomplish hewill try very hard. Ever since Harry was a little boy he has been a very different, special boy.

           For example, pg. 115-117 is the whole slow process of Harry getting the hippogriff to trust him and to allow Harry to slowly get along with it and pet it. Harry is very brave in this scene because there is a good chance that the animal would strike him and possibly injure him. He is also very smart by clearly listening to what Hagrid's directions are and strategically does them slow and calmly to keep the hippogriff at ease. Once he is finished with his turn with the hippogriff, Malfoy tries without any strategy or kindness and he gets violently struck by the animal.

           Pg. 241-242 " 'EXPECTO PATRONUM!' Harry bellowed. 'EXPECTO PATRONUM! EXPECTO PARTONUM!' ... and then a huge, silver shadow came bursting out of the end of Harry's wand, to hover between him and the dementor..." This is an excerpt from a scene where Harry and Professor Lupin are working on a patronus so Harry can protect himself from a future dementor attack. Lupin said don't be annoyed if you can't get it because there are much more advanced wizards than you that have trouble with it. Despite what Lupin said Harry still got after his third round of trying to get the spell. This shows lots of strength and dedication mentally and physically.
